How the calculator works
It finds the highest price where:
- Your income: the mortgage is no more than 4 times your gross income (3.5 times if you’ve had a mortgage before).
- Your savings: they pay the stamp duty first, and what’s left covers at least a 10% deposit.
Whichever limit you hit first sets your price. If you’re not a first-time buyer, change that under More options.
Getting help with the deposit
First-time buyers of new homes may be able to get help with the deposit through the Help to Buy scheme. Ask your lender or solicitor what you qualify for.
See the repayments on any home in our mortgage calculator.
