  • Take-home pay assumes a single person with no pension, retirement or other pre-tax deductions.
  • Tax is worked out for the full year and spread evenly across your pays. Payroll works cumulatively through the year, so single pays can differ slightly.
  • PRSI is Class A1 on regular weekly-equivalent pay, at 4.2% until 30 September 2026 and 4.35% from 1 October 2026.
  • Assumes you are under 65 and resident in Ireland, with the personal and employee tax credits (plus the Single Person Child Carer credit for single parents). Other credits, such as the rent credit, are not included.

How the calculator works

  1. Annual pay before tax: your hourly rate × hours a week × weeks a year, plus overtime hours at 1.5× your rate.
  2. Take-home pay: we run that annual pay through the same 2026 income tax, USC and PRSI rules as our salary calculator, for a single PAYE employee.

For pension contributions or a different tax status, use the salary calculator, which also accepts hourly pay.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an hourly rate to an annual salary?

Multiply your hourly rate by the hours you work each week, then by 52. At 39 hours a week, a common full-time week in Ireland, €20 an hour is €20 × 39 × 52 = €40,560 a year before tax.

What is the minimum wage in Ireland?

The national minimum wage is €14.15 an hour from 1 January 2026. At 39 hours a week that's €551.85 a week, or €28,697 a year. Budget 2027 announced a rise to €14.94 from 1 January 2027, which still needs to be made law.

How is overtime paid?

Overtime rates depend on your employment contract or any agreement that covers your job. The calculator pays overtime hours at 1.5 times your rate, a common rate; if yours is different, adjust your hours to match.

How much is €15 an hour a year?

At 39 hours a week, €15 an hour is €30,420 a year, €2,535 a month or €585 a week before tax.
